*She sheepishly accepts this award*
I have to admit, certain things make me feel awkward! Compliments and awards are two of those things.
However, I’m also very thankful to those who encourage and inspire me, and let me know that I’ve done the same for them. Ultimately, God is our true inspiration, but I absolutely love to pass it on!
All that being said, I owe a much appreciated and warm thank you to the The Perth Girl for nominating me. I love that she shares the God happenings in her life, and how she tackles difficult topics (see The Believer’s Freedom )
Plus, she posts great meal ideas and recipes that make you drool. If you aren’t following her already, check out her blog!
The Barnabas Award
I gave the Barnabas Award a new look. I felt that an award for Encouragement and Inspiration deserved something a little more inspiring. What do you think? I used two separate images from Pixabay.com and combined them on my PicsArt App. If you’ve never used the App, it’s fun! Give it a try some time.
The Barnabas Award is presented in recognition of the encouragement and inspiration a blogger brings to their readers.
Who was Barnabas?
- He was one of the prominent disciples (or dedicated followers/students) of Jesus
- He played an important role in the early ministry of Paul the Apostle (Acts 9:26-27 ), and he and Paul undertook missionary journeys together.
- He was named an Apostle (missionary, ambassador, messenger) in Acts 14:14-15
- He was a good man full of the Holy Spirit and faith who brought many people to the Lord. (Acts 11:24)
“One of the believers was named Joseph, a Levite born in Cyprus. The apostles called him Barnabas (which means “one who encourages”) Joseph owned a field, sold it, brought the money, and gave it to the apostles.” –Acts 4:36-37
How This Award Works:
Thank the person who nominated you, and share their blog. Think of five bloggers that encourage and inspire you and nominate them.List five things about yourself and answer the questions.Lastly, ask your nominees five questions. Why five? Because it is the number that signifies grace.
Five things about myself:
- Because Hobbits eat a lot of good stuff, reading The Hobbit makes me hungry. Banana bread and a cup of tea hits the spot!
- Proverbs was my first favorite book of the Bible
- I’d love to take a trip to the UK!
- I still think Stargate/Stargate Atlantis is one of the best Sci-fi series. And I may need to rewatch all of them again soon.
- My favorite Disney movie is Tangled (Rapunzel reminds me of myself. It makes me smile and laugh.)
Questions for me:
What is something you are most thankful for?
Looking back on the last couple of years, I’m thankful that God is patient, attentive and responsive! I know I can’t do this on my own, so it’s pretty wonderful that we always have His help.
What is your favourite writing genre?
God/Faith and anything that He puts on my heart.
Who is your favourite Author?
Next to God, I’m a huge C.S. Lewis fan.
What is your favourite encouraging Scripture?
This one’s difficult! I have many! However, here’s one of my new favorites. God used this verse to comfort me when I was battling depression. It’s so encouraging and hopeful!
“A bruised reed He will not break, and a smoldering wick He will not snuff out. In faithfulness He will bring forth justice; He will not falter or be discouraged till He establishes justice on earth. In His teaching the islands will put their hope.” –Isaiah 42:3-4
What is your current favourite Christian song?
I’m not very good at favorites because I have so many, but Reason by unspoken is a great song to sum up my last couple of years! It’s also very up beat which makes me happy happy! (Kudos to Landon, of Landon’s Lyric Videos, for his beautiful cinematography!)
Autumn is new to blogging, however she’s already inpired and encouraged me, so she deserves a “Well done!” Go Autumn! Go Autumn!
Casey has given me a good kick in the pants (in a good way) with her blog, and never fails to write posts that are so worth the read. You’re awesome, Casey!
Alicia! It didn’t take long to discover that this sweet gal was an encourager. She was one of the first people here on WordPress to leave comments on my blog. This mother and wife always has something wonderful and insightful to share. Thanks so much for inspiring and encouraging me, dear friend.
Latifa! I doubt that she knows it, but it was Latifa’s bravery that really encouraged me to share difficult things on my blog. Thanks so much Word press bestie.
I don’t have a name for this new blogging mom, but she’s already inspired me with her blog as well. Kudos BFH!
Questions for my nominees!
If you could meet any person face to face, who’s either dead or alive (other than Jesus) who would it be and why?
What do you want people to remember about you?
Name three people in your life who have been your biggest encouragers.
Name something that you’re very passionate about and why it’s so important to you.
A quote, poem, or Scripture that’s very inspiring to you.
