Tidal Wave

Too many thoughts

I’m tied up in knots

You toss down a line

But I’m walking this rope

I’m dangling precariously

Across a canyon that’s wide

I’m losing my footing

I’m searching for hope

I know that You’re near

So why do I doubt?

I’m swimming for shore

But the sharks were let out

Just when I believe

I just might hit dry land

A tidal wave strikes

Like a great mighty hand

It tosses me wide

I’m starting to sink

Where is that rope?

Why can’t I think?

Where is my faith?

Where is the shore?

I thought I was close

I don’t know anymore

You call me a fighter

I don’t know when to quit

I know I can’t lose

And who my mighty God is

The waves they rise higher

I’m set back a pace

But they can’t hold back love

And they won’t hide Your face

So I’ll swim all night long

If that’s what it takes

I’ll grab hold of that rope

And I’ll hang onto faith

Till I’m walking on water

Not this silly tightrope

Till I’m praising Your name!

And I’m rejoicing in Hope!
