On Thursday morning a friend sent me an email informing me that I was mentioned on Scherezade’s blog (The introverted Christian).
https://edifyingthespiritblog.wordpress.com When I went looking I discovered that I’d been nominated for a Blogger Recognition Award. What a nice and unexpected surprise!
Thank you Scherezade for the nomination. Like you said regarding your own nomination, I too am very rarely awarded for anything, and a blogger award is a first for me! It was ironic too since two of the pieces I’ve been working on refer to awards and rewards. [Amendment: confirmation, not irony. P.S. Lord, thanks for the “Well done.”] 🙂
How it works?
Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog. Write a post to show your award. Give a brief story of how your blog started. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers. Select fellow bloggers for this award. Let each nominee know you’ve nominated them and leave a link to your post.
How my blog got started:
Back in 2012 I was looking for another forum to share my heart for God. I came across WordPress, but my blog never took off, so I rarely used it over the years. Last September I felt I needed to update it to make its appearance more appealing to readers. I didn’t have any intention of using it though because I believed it was truly dead (Yeah, God continually proves me wrong, showing me that He can bring things back to life.) I thought maybe if I updated my blog, what I’d already posted might at least be read.
After I updated my sites appearance I decided I’d add a fresh post. When I began to receive “likes” this got my attention. I’d felt that what I’d been writing and sharing on Facebook wasn’t really being read or received, but I wasn’t sure what God wanted to do with me, only that He kept nudging me to write.
I still don’t know exactly what God wants to do with me, but I’ve never written as steadily as I’ve been writing since last September. I don’t appear to be slowing down either! I love to write for God, and I hope that it’s encouraging and/ or helpful in some way to those who choose to read it.
Two pieces of advice for fellow bloggers:
My advice? Er….let’s see.
- Get involved. Communicate with fellow bloggers. (I actually need to take my own advice and do more of this.) Give encouragement and recognition to others when you see something good in what they’ve shared.
“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it.” –Proverbs 3:27
“But encourage each other every day while it is “today.” Help each other so none of you will become hardened because sin has tricked you.” –Hebrews 3:13
- Speak your heart. Keep it real, and don’t be afraid to speak the truth. Your personal stories may help someone who believed they were alone in their thinking, or even introduce them to a brand new perspective.
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. –Psalm 19:14
I’d love to nominate some of my “peeps.” Yep, you’re my “peeps” now. I’m keeping ya! Thanks so much for inspiring me and encouraging me with your fellowship and/or your posts.
You really don’t have to repost your nomination if you’d rather not (You have my permission to forgo it) 😛 However, I’d still love to give you that recognition on my blog anyways. You’ve inspired and refreshed me, and I do appreciate the quality of your work.
“I was glad when Stephanas, Fortunatus and Achaicus arrived, because they have supplied what was lacking from you. For they refreshed my spirit and yours also. Such men deserve recognition.” —-1 Corinthians 16:17-18
“If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward.” — 1 Corinthians 3:12-14
And I don’t know if it’s against the rules, but it wasn’t mentioned, so I’m also nominating you too Scherezade. You don’t have to reblog it though, since you just did this yourself. 😛
