[My God, I want to do what you want]
Since I came across the Joshua Micah song, “Who Says,” it’s been running through my head. “Who says you’ll never feel alone in the crowd?” We know who says it–he’s the same liar who tells us that we’re different and we don’t fit in. He’s the same liar that makes us believe that being different is a bad thing.
He’ll tell you that you’re good for nothing and that nobody will love you, notice you, or even cares. They are all lies.
Guess what? You are good for something; you even have a purpose. You have something unique that only you can offer. You have gifts that God has given you to use. He’ll show you what they are and He’ll give you more if you’ll ask. You are qualified for the job because He has given you all that you need, and He will give you exceedingly abundantly more than you were ever expecting.
You’ll be noticed alright. That’s why the devil lies to you. Because God is calling you out, and the devil is saying, “oh no you don’t, you’re staying right here under my thumb. I can’t have you finding out the truth.”
Guess what? People do care. People like myself, whose life mission is to tell you that you’re more than okay– you’re loved. You have a Father in Heaven who cares so deeply for you. As well, you have a brother and a friend in Jesus. If that wasn’t enough, you have and a whole family of believers who can’t wait to welcome you into the family. You’re not alone. You’ve just been fed lies.
There will always be those people who tear others down, but that’s not where you belong, and you don’t have to listen to them either. You can listen to what God has to say. If the devil has convinced you that religion is just a bunch of nonsense, he’s wrong. (1 Corinthians 1:18-30) The Bible tells us this:
“Religion that God accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” (James 1:27)
God’s heart goes out the orphan and the widow. He reaches out to those who are hurting and in need. He’s telling You that He’s there for you, and that He’s always be there for you. You’re not alone. He doesn’t want us to be polluted by the world because the world has been corrupted by that devils dirty lies. Those lies serve to drowned out God’s loving voice. They also serve to keep people trapped and isolated in their pain.
However, there’s freedom in God’s arms and in His family. I know that this is a fact. I’m never happier than when God speaks into my life because those lies lose their grip on me, and I come more and more out of my shell. I’m ready for this–ready for what it is God has for me to do because I know that it’s going to be good.
If you hate religion because you’ve been hurt by it, then chances are that person, (or those people) didn’t have things right. They were either weak in their faith, misguided, or they didn’t know God. People make mistakes. God doesn’t.
If you’re ready to say, “uh huh” to what Jesus has to offer you–whether you’re a Christian who has run away from Him, or you’ve never met Him–He’s waiting for you with open and loving arms. You have family and friends that care.
If you have embraced Jesus and you don’t want to listen to all of the lies, then keep turning your back to the wind (to the past as well) and enjoy the scenery as you trek on. Your Father in heaven has good plans for you. So let’s say, “Uh huh” to what Jesus has for us to do.
“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
“My God, I want to do what you want. Your teachings are in my heart.” –Psalm 40:8 (NCV)
