No Room

There was no room
The inn was full
God was aware
This too foreknown
These tiny hands
And tiny feet
A less than Kingly
Reception to greet.

Yet men who were wise
They came
From the East
Bringing three gifts
For this tiny King
Of gold, of frankincense, and myrrh
Rejoicing and worshipping
A virgin birth.

A Savior sent
On silent night
A manger scene
A star so bright
Yet Royal as
He rightly was
Accepted less
Amazing love.

A humble Prince
Not one deserved
Yet for the lost
His heart it burned
There was no room
The inn was full
Oh Bethlehem
If only you’d known.

The One they sent away was He
Our God with us
His flesh to bleed
He deserved much more
Yet received much less
Our wretched souls
The crowds protest.

Yet even nails
That pierced His skin
Could not destroy
The love within
“Father Forgive Them”
His own request
How could we not see
WE deserved so much less.

Yet Jesus He spoke
“They know not what they do”
He paid the ransome
Only His blood
Would do
There was no room
The inn was full
The story’s been told
So now you know.

Will there be room
Or will you, too say
The Inn–it is full
And send Him

“Away in a manger, no crib for a bed
The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head.”
