Some Blessings

Blessed by the Best, I always say
And how true it rings, in every way
God’s greatest gifts
Are the ones you can’t see
There the ones that will grow
And with time fruit they’ll bring.

Blessed by the Best, I know it’s true
When the skies are grey
And your mood is blue
God’s greatest gifts
Are the ones you can’t feel
There the ones that transform
And the ones that reveal.

For Blessings aren’t always

Those warm fuzzy things

Some Blessings are battles

Time’s victory brings

Some Blessings are crosses

We bare through our life

Some Blessings are seasons

That shape and define.

Blessed by the Best, till our time comes due
Keep watching, don’t miss it,
For our days are but few
God’s greatest gifts
Aren’t the ones you can hold
They’re the ones He’s pieced together
And His plans that unfold.

For Blessings aren’t always

Those bright shiny things

Some Blessings are scars

That with time healing brings

Some Blessings are lines

That long you have towed

Some Blessings are debts

That no longer are owed

For Blessings aren’t always

Those sunshiny days

Some Blessings are sorrows

Down harrowing ways

Some Blessings are questions

That prompt you to seek

Some Blessings are strength

For the faint and the weak

Some Blessings are moments

That cause you to pause

To reflect on the path

That you’ve trusted to God

Some Blessings are the miracles

He’s accomplished in you

And the love He has lavished

And the days He’s seen to.
